ABOUT THE CORPS

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) was established in 1976 by Wole Soyinka in response to the alarming rate of road accidents along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.
The organization was later introduced to Kwara State in 1982 and subsequently established at Kwara State Polytechnic in 1993 as a campus-based club.
In 2004, the club underwent a name change from Federal Road Safety Club to Safety Club. This decision was made due to concerns surrounding the use of the term “Commission” within an academic club setting, as well as directives from higher authorities requiring tertiary institutions in Nigeria to discontinue the use of the name “Federal Road Safety Club,” partly due to issues related to cultism.
In 2005, the organization was renamed Cadet Corps. This transition was made possible through the significant efforts of Cadet Babaomo Ayodeji and Cadet Badmus, who worked diligently to ensure the survival and continuity of the organization.
In 2011, during the tenure of Cadet Major Olusegun Amoo Stephen, attempts were made to rebrand the organization as the Nigeria Army Cadet Corps. However, this change was not sustained.
Eventually, in 2013, under the leadership of Cadet Major Adefila Emmanuel, the organization was officially renamed Nigeria Cadet Corps P’coy, a name which remains in use to this day.
